I've been really enjoying Joov lately! If you don't know him, he makes funny/interesting Skyrim challenge videos! I like his videos not just because they're good, but because he's relaxing to watch. You never know with Youtube gamers...some of them lean right and try to hide it, until they let some bigotry or other slip and then it's just...too uncomfortable to watch them anymore.

But Joov seems chill? Cultural discourse and politics doesn't come up often in his videos, but when they do, he'll openly mock whatever alt-right gamers are currently raging about, and in a recent video, someone in his own community described it as queer-friendly. I dunno, it's just nice to find someone making this kind of content where I don't have to worry about them randomly saying something hateful.

Title: The Legend of Luoxiaohei: The Gate of All Living Beings / 罗小黑战记 众生之门 / Luo Xiaohei Zhan Ji: Zhongsheng Zhi Men
Year: 2021, 2 years after the first movie and a decade after the first season.
Type: ONA (thank you bilibili)
Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Supernatural
Poor Summary: In the first season, Luo Xiaobai (Little White) finds a black cat and brings it home, naming it Xiaohei (Little Black). Unbeknowst to her, the strange cat is actually a spirit/elf/demon/depends on the translation who is on an important mission!! If he successfully completes it, he can become an Executor (less violent than it sounds. I guess it's kind of like Spirit World Special Ops?) and work alongside with his absurdly overpowered master. Lots of shots displaying the beauty of nature and everyday life interspersed by breathtakingly fast action scenes follow. This season is about his final mission, in which he and the friends he's made along the way have to >_> enter a VR game >_> which is popular among both humans and spirits >_> and he has to like do missions in it or something IDK I don't remember his exact mission because I hate when cartoons or comics are video games. #LetGamesBeGames

Why Did I Watch This??: Loved the movies so much I decided I have to have the full scoop on this little cat, so I intend to check out all the other media from the same series too.
Strongest Aspect: Just like the movies and first season, the animation is great and the art style is too cute <3 I really really love the art of this series.
Favorite Part: Definitely the last episode or 3, because the entire concept of the season had me worried it was gonna be bad and it WAS kinda of me~h until we finally got some major asskicking involved, as well as the master-father finally showing his face(!! the show had been avoiding showing him like he's some kind of final boss, even if I know full well what he's like from the movie) and having a very very very sweet moment with his student-son who lowkey has separation anxiety at his big age.
Least Favorite Part: How often Shanxin had to infodump about how the world works 😭 Even the show itself acknowledged it was all boring at some point. At least they're aware?

I have spent the literal entirety of my legally adult life watching the country I was born into try to fait accompli its way into Armageddon and I have to say that it was not an enticing novelty a quarter of a century ago, either.

27 is late, of course, because I saw friends last night and didn't get home til late :D

27: If I had unlimited resources (including time), what hobby would I pursue?

There are two!

1). I learned how to oil paint when I was a teenager, I loved it (I was not very good at it, but that's fine), and I miss it. Would love to do it again at some point!

2). Stained glass.

Both are specifically, "money/having a space to do it in"; would also love to learn to blow glass someday (there's a bunch of workshops for it out here, oddly enough), but that's something where it's like, "I fully expect that I will try doing this and go, 'hmm, cool, not for me!'", whereas the other two are things I know I like. :D

28: Best moment of the last month?

Oh, seeing that my fucking sourdough worked and being able to make myself a sandwich with it (which was very good), almost definitely! :D

My tolerance for a wide variety of personalities is really low. I just do not like that many people and the ones I don't like, I really really really don't like. There are a few, on the cusp, but not many and a few extenuating circumstances, but not many. I am just not a loving, accepting person.

Dinner with Harriet was not painful but sure was not enjoyable (except the shrimp was very good). But, I am understanding the rhythm of her annoyances. When she disagrees with something, she pretends she doesn't understand. She added 3 items to the agenda which were covered absolutely and completely at the last meeting. It's just that she does not approve of the decision. Get over it, old lady. But, she had a lovely time and wants to do dinner more often. Her sister is moving here soon, so hopefully, that will prevent many more dinners.

The volleyball people who annoy me, really worked on me this morning. I only said Shut The Fuck Up and Get Out Of The Pool Now, in my head.

Last night, Jim Across The Hall came over with the contents of the package he had received. He did not know what it was for or what to do with it. It was a package of 12 new Hanes Tighty Whities. This morning, he came over with the same package and we had the same conversation. I'm pretty sure he's going to throw them away. "I don't know what they are for!"

Today is the other Jim's birthday and there will be cake at Elbow Coffee. It's special cake - we had it last year - and it's delicious. So I'm looking forward to that.

Then, my plan is to go pick up lunch from downstairs and come back up here and shut the door. Probably I'll get another tighty whities showing but I'm ok with that. I'm done with everyone else.

Love, the Mean Old Bitch in 3402.

Visual Migraine and Interference. I had a visual migraine on Thursday. If I was to try and figure out what is stressing me (and I do believe that my visual migraines are more likely to happen when I'm emotionally stressed) I would probably pin it on worrying about Skye. She had been taking her 2 medicines in pill pockets with a little moist food around it. Then she quit eating them that way. I really don't like shoving pills down animal's throats but after a day of not getting her meds she wasn't doing so good. So yesterday I figured out a way to wrap her up in a towel and set her on my lap to give the pills. It went better than I thought it would. Within hours she had an appetite again. So that's where we are now.

Another day today of beautiful sunshine. Springlike. I saw a robin for the first time yesterday when Jan and I were walking by the river. Also I found a bluebird wing in the woods. Just a wing. No feathers, nothing else. Which is another, not so pleasant sign of spring.

Today’s escalation in Iran marks a sharp shift from months of tension to active military engagement. Today morning, coordinated air and missile strikes by the US and Israel struck multiple sites inside Iran, including military infrastructure and strategic targets in Tehran, in what officials described as a “pre-emptive” operation to degrade Iran’s missile capabilities and nuclear ambitions. Tehran responded with widespread rocket and missile launches targeting Israeli territory and US military bases across the Gulf region, including in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE. Explosions were reported in major Iranian cities, prompting civilian evacuations and closures of schools and airports, while both sides continue to reinforce forces in adjacent theaters.

International reactions have been sharply divided along strategic lines. Western governments like the UK, France, and Germany condemned Iranian attacks on neighboring states and called for a return to negotiation, stressing civilian protection and de-escalation. At the UN, Secretary-General António Guterres called the use of force by all parties “undermining international peace and security” and demanded an immediate ceasefire. In contrast, Russia condemned the US-Israeli strikes as “unprovoked aggression” and expressed readiness to support diplomatic avenues while warning of humanitarian and security risks. Other regional actors such as Turkey, Egypt, and Gulf states urged restraint, emphasizing regional stability and the catastrophic consequences of further escalation.

Public sentiment inside Iran and among dissident communities reflects fractured responses. Some Iranians reportedly reacted with cautious optimism to the strikes against regime infrastructure, interpreting them as weakening state control, while state media framed the attacks as violations of sovereignty and mobilized nationalist sentiment. Exiled opposition figures have characterized international military action as a form of “humanitarian intervention”, though these claims are contested and exist alongside significant fears of widespread civilian harm. Internally, the government’s prior suppression of protests and information blackouts has limited transparent reporting, complicating assessments of broader societal reactions.

Looking ahead, the likeliest direction points toward intensification and fragmentation rather than rapid resolution. Diplomatic mechanisms such as IAEA technical talks scheduled for early March may persist, but with active hostilities underway, negotiations face near-term setbacks. Military escalation risks drawing in additional regional actors and could lead to protracted engagement reminiscent of past Middle Eastern conflicts. Unless decisive external pressure or an internal political rupture alters incentives, the situation is prone to extended instability with cyclical retaliation, constrained diplomacy, and significant humanitarian costs.

This morning I tested out the new microphone. Once I'm a sufficient distance away from it (something I'm going to have to get used to), the sound quality isn't bad, but I can hear a tiny bit of flickering in the background. Not the biggest problem while podficcing; it will be an improvement there, at least. Streaming with it is another matter. Perhaps it might not even be audible much of the time, but there are times it probably will be. How to get rid of it I do not know. Maybe I should try to figure out this Razer Synapse thing that I ended up installing when I first plugged it in?
I haven't figured out how to get those two pesky final files off my old computer either. Though one thing I am hoping to go buy today is a new external hard drive. I had already started to suspect that sooner or later, I may need it, and if the old computer can register a connection to it, that would surely be a way to move those files.
